In this place stands a rectangular sandstone on which a date and an epigraph can be read, "moncad..."
It is said that the tombstone was placed in memory of a lady from Friuli, a "clomera" or a traveling saleswoman who in 1770, going up from Salorno in the direction of Cembra, was attacked by a bear that tore her apart, cutting off her head.
From this "moncada" head, in the dialect "crocola", this pass takes its name.
