These are the remains of a sawmill that operated from 1945 to 1951, a partially restored relic from the days when this forest was valued only for its timber. Rusted machinery still lingers here, with interpretive signs that explain the mill’s history and its place in the story of Mount Cougal. It’s a quiet, reflective point along the track, standing in contrast to the beautiful World Heritage rainforest that now surrounds it.
