The Werribee River winds roughly 110 kilometres through Victoria, cutting through the picturesque Werribee Gorge before continuing through Bacchus Marsh, Werribee, and out to Port Phillip Bay. Ancient river red gums line its banks in stretches, providing shelter for a wide variety of birdlife, along with fish, eels, rakali, and platypus, which you might spot along quieter sections of the river. It’s one of the region’s key natural corridors, and a favourite that is popular with walkers, cyclists, and paddlers along its length.
