Hiking Highlight (Segment)
July 2019:The official way is a disaster. Overflowing without end. The "Alte Tauernweg" is hard to find. We went the last third the alternative route and this again went all the way down. Is it really worth it? A lot of nature. Goods with our children (7 and 10 years) worked perfectly.

Already in the High Middle Ages, there is a mule track along the waterfalls and the Achental on the Krimmler Tauern (2,633 m) to Italy. The most important commodities are salt transported to the south and wine to the north. The still managed Krimmler Tauernhaus as an important rest stop is first documented in 1389.In the 16th century, the mule traffic over the Krimmler Tauern obviously so significant that a new route is created. The surrounding nature does not interest the travelers of the time. Accordingly, the Krimmler Tauernweg is created: It leads to the waterfalls only if it is absolutely necessary from the ground.de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krimmler_Wasserf%C3%A4lle
