Tree of loving or tree of fertility. The linden tree is historically a sacred tree in both Germanic and Slavic cultures.

This is one of the oldest linden trees in Germany. It is estimated to be 800-1000 years old. In its prime, it had a hight of 30m and a trunk circumference of 10m. IN 1964 and 1975, around 40% of the root system was destroying during the laying of drinking and sewage pipes. The damage was dramatic. In 1983, the tree was extensively renovated. After the renovation, it was only expect to live another 30-50 years.
