Ruins of a medieval castle at the highest point of the Sierra de Rodes, 670 meters high, in the heart of the Cabo de Creus Natural Park and very close to the Monastery of San Pedro de Rodes. From this point there is a spectacular view of the monastery itself, as well as the entire Cap de Creus and the Empordà.

The Castell has its origins in 974. It stands on the top of the Col de la Verdera (also called San Salvador, altitude 636 m). It is also known as "El Castell de Sant Salvador". This rock castle was controversial between the Count of Ampurias and the Benedictines of the monastery of Sant Pere. It was restored with the construction of a wall in 1283 and several towers in 1391. It was founded in 1285 by the French troops of Philip III. occupied. Feudo de Joan I had her demolished in 1708 to prevent her from getting into enemy hands. It is about 30 minutes walk from the monastery of Sant Pere de Rodas.
