The drive here is worth it just to enjoy the view over the dreamy lake to the old stone house (today a restaurant). And you get the well-developed trail to the north (theoretically to Albany).

The Old Putnam Trail reopened in August 2020. It is now paved (and in pretty great condition), so definitely recommended for all kinds of road bikes...

A beautiful park in the heart of the Bronx. The Old Putnam Trail offers an enjoyable ride, but it can get pretty muddy. If you're on a road bike, make sure your tires are at least 28mm for a comfortable ride.
