Hoddles Track heads west from Saddleback Mountain, and is well-marked by green posts as it follows the ridge towards Mount Noorinan. Named after Robert Hoddle, who surveyed the route in 1830, it was originally used to carry produce from the Southern Highlands to Kiama for shipping and once continued as far as Bowral before a better route made it obsolete. It’s a relatively steep, roughly 7-kilometre return walk through remnant rainforest, with plenty of birdlife to look out for along the way, including crimson rosellas, bristlebirds and golden whistlers.
