Wombat State Forest feels wonderfully wild, with tall eucalypts, fern-filled gullies and a huge network of old forestry tracks disappearing between the trees. The forest stretches across the Great Dividing Range near Blackwood, so the terrain shifts between quiet ridgelines, creeks and damp pockets of bushland. It can become muddy after rain, and phone reception is patchy, so download your komoot map before setting off.
