The construction of the glasshouses began in 1788.
The first glasshouse of the English Garden,
the “Glasshaus” could be reached directly from the service entrance on Hattyú Street. In its place, the Palm House was built in the last epoch of the 19th century, which was primarily used as a venue for social events, including the famous Anna Balls and charity events. Its appearance changed the structure of the English Garden. The garden entrance, which led to the Palm House, gained higher status from its economic function and was provided with a more decorative gate.
