The former Houthuizer mill dates from the spring of 1800. In 1815 a building permit was applied for to build a new windmill. Two years later, the blades could turn for the first time. The mill was originally used as a hulling mill. In 1901 the mill burned down and was then rebuilt with a used hood, slightly larger than the hood that had been burned. This is how the currently rebuilt mill came into being.

In 1918, Antoon Clevers had a steam engine installed at the windmill, followed later by a diesel engine. In 1936 his son followed in his father's footsteps. He was a miller when the Germans blew up his mill on October 22, 1944. The mill was not rebuilt at that time. The converted mill has been in operation again since May 2009.

The inside of the mill can also be viewed while it is in operation. Nice view upstairs.

Since the Middle Ages, Lottum has owned both a windmill and a watermill. The Daelderhof is described in old books, which were kept at the time to administratively keep track of the so-called loan system. The Daelderhof was a fief under the lords of Broekhuizen who in turn fell under the Duke of Gelre who was in turn, at least on paper, a serf to the king. In addition to a farm, the Daelderhof contained some land, a watermill and probably also the predecessor of the Houthuizer windmill.
