The Hintersteiner See is a mountain lake in the nature reserve Wilder Kaiser and belongs to the municipality of Scheffau in the Austrian state of Tyrol. The lake was created during the last ice age and lies at an altitude of 882 m above sea level. A. Underground springs fill the lake with crystal clear water. The Hintersteiner See is privately owned. The outflow takes place in the white water.
