    Tips

    July 17, 2026

Dry Island Buffalo Jump Provincial Park protects one of Alberta's most dramatic badlands landscapes, where the Red Deer River winds between steep coulees, cliffs, and native prairie. The park takes its name from the flat-topped "Dry Island" mesa rising 200 metres above the valley, while the western escarpment was once used by Indigenous peoples as a buffalo jump. There is no fee to visit.
