The Sheep River winds through Okotoks on its journey from the Rocky Mountain foothills to the Highwood River. Along Heritage Parkway, the paved path follows the river valley through open parkland and wooded sections, with several places to stop and look across the water. The river is also an important local water source and one of the defining natural features of the town.
