Lake Grytavatnet is a relatively large and fairly round lake, framed by several mountain peaks. Most of the peaks rise to over 1,200 meters or even higher, while the lake lies at an elevation of about 650 meters. This creates a particularly striking view along the eastern shore, where the rocky ridges of the mountains literally soar skyward.
