Mountain Biking Highlight
Cycling may not be permitted at this location.
The Andechser Bräustüberl deliberately maintains its centuries-old tradition as a pilgrim restaurant. Its history is as varied and multifaceted as that of the entire Holy Mountain.
As a visitor, please bring your own snack and enjoy a tasty Andechs monastery beer with it. But even those who come without a snack basket will find a large selection of cold and warm Andechser delicacies. On nice days you have a wonderful view of the Bavarian Alps and the magnificent landscape from the Bräustüberl terraces.

You should pay attention to pedestrians in the area while biking. Especially for the ones who were too busy with the beer tematics
Otherwise also a dream landscape.

The monastery Andechs and thus the Bräustüberl and the beer garden can be reached via the wooded Kiental from Herrsching as a hike. On weekends when the weather is nice, but also a lot going on. For mountain bikers, the climb is challenging because of the long climb.

A magnet for tourists.
Therefore partly quite full.

For one euro you can climb the tower of the church. Very exciting, because of very narrow and steep stairs. But the view is great.

I recommend a tour around the Ammersee with a detour to Andechs. Starting point: Dießen or Stegen, so that you can also start the return journey by ship or as a reward to enjoy a small or large tour.

The Andechs Monastery was originally built as a pilgrimage church and is located on the "Holy Mountain" Andechs, the second largest pilgrimage place in Bavaria. After the Counts of Andechs died out in direct line, here in 1455 the Benedictine Monastery was founded to house a relic treasure found here a century earlier.

Absolute tourist attraction. But many locals visit the monastery (both often rather because of the beer :-))

We were there in lockdown, many hikers had the same idea. Still a nice detour.

You do not have to say much about the Holy Mountain or Andechs Monastery. You can combine it in wonderful MTB trails, with the trails just north of the monastery or just northwest down to Herrsching.

It does not necessarily have to be the Klosterbiergarten. At the host below, it is sometimes a little quieter.
