Breiðabólsstaðarkirkja is a church in Breiðabólsstaður in Vesturhóp. The current church there was built of wood in 1893. It contains an altarpiece by Anker Lund from 1920, which shows Jesus blessing the children. (SOURCE: Wikipedia)

Around 1100, Hafliði Másson lived in Breiðabólsstaður. In 1117, he was responsible for drafting the Icelandic national laws. In his honor, the Icelandic Bar Association erected a monument in 1974. From 1535 to 1572, a printing press was located there. Bishop Jón Arason of Hóla had it moved there. With it came Pastor Jón Matthíasson (d. 1567), to whom Breiðabólsstaður was handed over in 1535. It is known that three books were printed there, but one of them has been completely lost.
