Cheviot Hill is the highest point in Point Nepean National Park and offers not only beautiful, expansive coastal views, but also a rich military and maritime history. This short loop runs past World War II fortifications to a lookout with a beautiful view over Cheviot Beach, the site where Prime Minister Harold Holt disappeared in 1967, and the Bass Strait stretching beyond the cliffs. Named after the SS Cheviot that wrecked offshore in 1887, it’s one of the park’s most significant natural and historic landmarks.
