The castle was rebuilt at the beginning of the 15th century.
The lords of Burg Mont Saint-Jean were the families:
Gymnich, from 1248-1430
Bolchen, from 1435-1466
Hunolstein, from 1466-1494
Isenburg, from 1494-1553
From 1542, the castle was heavily damaged in the wars between the Kings of France, Francis I and Henry II, and the Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire Charles V. During this time, it was conquered and reconquered several times until it was finally destroyed in 1552 and lost any strategic value.
