The Saint-Jean church, mentioned in 1227 (nave from the 13th and 14th centuries, choir around 1452, tower from 1512-1516), was the center of a parish that, until the Reformation (1528), brought together the inhabitants of Laupen and those on the left bank of the Singine, around Flamatt. The patronage passed to the Teutonic Knights in 1227 following a donation from Emperor Frederick II, in 1235 to their commandery in Köniz, and in 1729 to Bern with the latter.
