Nestled along the West Branch of the Susquehanna River, Renovo was built as a railroad town in the 1860s, serving as the halfway point between Philadelphia and Erie on the Philadelphia & Erie Railroad. At its peak, thousands of workers kept steam locomotives and railcars running from the sprawling railroad shops that once dominated the town. While the trains no longer define daily life here, Renovo still proudly embraces its railroad heritage, making it a worthwhile stop before heading back into the forests of the Pennsylvania Wilds.
