The Viking Kalanti Route and the Great Post Road once passed near Vuosnainen. Merchants, pirates, post-boats and smugglers have been travelling under the shelter of the peninsula for a thousand years. The labyrinthine archipelago route is now popular with tourists who can quickly and safely reach Aland by ferry departing from Vuosnainen.

The route to the nature tower is about 500 meters long. About halfway along the route, there is a small parking area on the right side of the road. Please do not block the driveway. The last section of the route, about 200 meters, is a forest trail; the first section is a gravel road.

The high cliffs on the edges of the i are the result of an ancient geologic fault. The fracture line has since been carved by ice ages and the resulting gorge has been filled with water. The Kihti is now an excellent shipping route and a migratory route for many bird species on their way forth, You can follow, for example, the migration of Arctic waterfowl and waders in late spring and admire the outer archipelago landscape, which opens up to Aland and the Sea of Bothnia. This is best done from the nature tower built in 2026.
