Gap Peak Route is a steep hike through the forest, until emerging from treeline. Then there's a choice for an eastern or western route. The western route is an open scree field with firmer, easier to follow terrain, and easier hand holds and food holds in the scramble. The eastern route is a bit more difficult with loose scree. Start your hike early, bring snacks and layers, and be prepared for a challenging scramble if you choose to summit. If you're looking for awesome views, head up to treeline and turn back.
