Lehde: Spreewald village on islands, a pocket-sized lagoon city
In 1859, Theodor Fontane travelled through the Spreewald. One destination of his journey was Lehde, and he wrote the following about this place: “It is the pocket-sized lagoon city, a Venice as it might have been 1500 years ago. One can see nothing lovelier than this Lehde, which consists of as many islands as it has houses.” One cannot describe this unique Spreewald village any better.
