Officially, the reclaimed opencast mine lake is located in a restricted area. Signs warn of landslide and life-threatening danger.
The lake was formed from a remaining pit of the Schlabendorf Süd lignite opencast mine, and between 1999 and 2011 it was filled with water from the Spreewald.
