Before the correction of the Aare between Böttstein and the Rhine between 1886 and 1904, this flood plain was a wild and dynamic river landscape with meanders, gravel islands and alluvial forests. Regular floods led to the construction of flood protection dams and the canalization of the Aare.

Hiking

Both the hiking path and the bicycle path lead through the Klingnau power station. You can walk over it and have a beautiful view of the Klingnauer reservoir. The path is rather narrow and there was little going on here, but it is a popular bike path, so if the weather is good and there is a lot of "traffic" it is probably better to be careful. Still highly recommended!
