The causeway is a track that runs north from Weobley Castle out across the Llanrhidian salt marshes. It's generally believed to date from the Second World War, when the marshes were used by American forces as a training and firing range. At the northern end is a small concrete-and-brick structure, likely a wartime observation or lookout post.
It feels surprisingly remote here and at high tides and during storm surges parts of the surrounding marsh can flood, so it's worth checking conditions before heading out.
