Bungalow Spur Track is the classic approach to Mount Feathertop from Harrietville, climbing steadily through sheltered forest before reaching Federation Hut and the exposed alpine country near the summit. The track is well graded for most of its length, but it gains more than 1,300 metres, so it’s still a serious climb. Expect Alpine Ash forest, snow gums higher up, historic hut sites, and fast-changing weather once you leave the shelter of the trees.
