The 17th-century pilgrimage church is considered the spiritual shield of the city of Ruvo di Puglia. The miraculous image of Madonna del Latte is at the center of veneration - the fresco of the nursing Mother of God with the Christ Child on her knees. Various protective miracles have historically been attributed to this image. The community had the church extensively restored to preserve the valuable frescoes and historical substance.
