Cape Liptrap Coastal Park spans the coastline from the Point Smythe sand barrier to the calm waters of Waratah Bay. You can explore the ruins of historic brick-lined kilns at Walkerville South, discover relics of the once bustling lime-burning industry that supplied Melbourne's early building boom from 1875 to 1926. At the edge of the cape's cliffs stands the iconic Cape Liptrap Lighthouse; originally constructed in 1913 and rebuilt in 1951, its active beacon still casts a light over 34 kilometres out to sea.
