The Rivière des Abénaquis is a gentle, winding waterway that flows through the heart of the Chaudière-Appalaches region in Quebec, eventually joining the Famine River. Its name comes the Abenaki people (Wôbanaki), and means "country of the east", who historically navigated the region’s rivers for travel and trade. While the river today is largely known for its tranquil scenery and local agricultural backdrop, it remains a part of their vast traditional territory. This area is perfect for a quiet riverside walk, though you’ll want to be mindful of water levels as they change with the seasons.
