Platys Potamos (i.e. "Wide River") is one of the longest rivers in Crete, fed by the waters of the northeast Kedros mountain and the valley of Amari. Its exit is at Agia Galini beach in South Rethymnon. The Platis Potamos river is one of the rivers of Crete with plenty of water and dense vegetation. In fact, along the banks there are several stone bridges with arches built by the inhabitants of the area to cross the river.

The big bridge over the small river to the campsite seems a bit absurd. From the beach towards Psiloritis with snow on top there is even more.
