Wonderful view of Kallenhardt and the valley all around. Especially recommended in the morning with early fog or in the evening at sunset! A fox, rabbit or deer will come across you here in the morning. Please only take photos :-)
Sit on the bench and enjoy the moment and the rest.

A predecessor settlement to today's Kallenhardt with church was mentioned in 1072 in the foundation charter of the monastery county as kurkölnischer main yard Ostervelde. The planned city founding took place before 1297 on a hilltop for protection against Arnsberg by the archbishop of Cologne. The place with the church of St. Clement and a town hall was reinforced by a city wall and three gate towers. Since the Middle Ages Kallenhardt belonged to the kurkölnische Duchy of Westphalia and came in 1802 to the county of Hessen-Darmstadt. From 1808 the city wall was demolished. 1811 was the founding of the Schultheißbezirk Kallenhardt. This came in 1815 to the Kingdom of Prussia and the district of Brilon. 1820 changed the place in the district Lippstadt. On January 1, 1975 Kallenhardt was incorporated into the city of Rüthen and belongs since then to the district of Soest.
From 1573 to 1619 many inhabitants were victims of witch trials. In total, the number may be more than 40 people. On March 31, 2011, the city council Rüthen decided a socio-ethical rehabilitation of those in the area of today's town of Rüthen during the 16th and 17th centuries in the context of the persecution of witches innocent convicted and executed persons.
