The striking red tower is the former hose tower of the old fire station. It is the widely visible symbol of the village square. In the past, when fire hoses were still made of hemp or heavy fabric, they had to be hung vertically after each use to dry. Without this drying in the tower, the hoses would have rotted. It is a typical brick building that has been lovingly restored. Today, it no longer serves the fire department (the fire department has a modern building on the outskirts), but is a cultural monument.
