Opening hours Tuesday to Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The museum is divided into four thematic areas that deal with the indigenous past, goldsmithing and the colonial history of the region. The building was built in 1531 and is considered one of the oldest surviving colonial buildings in South America. The museum was founded in 1934 to protect and preserve Colombia's archaeological heritage.
