It was built in the 1990s after the previous building had become dilapidated. The consecration took place on August 20, 1996 (the national holiday of Saint Stephen). The church is striking for its facade of exposed red brick, combining modern lines with traditional elements. The freestanding bell tower was completed shortly afterward (1998). Inside is an impressive secco painting by the artist Orsolya Fecske, depicting Saint Stephen and other Hungarian saints. It is located directly on the main street (Pesti út 73) in Alsógöd.
