Also known as "the little convent," it was built by the friars of San Domenico of Pistoia in the mid-15th century, on the site of the 13th-century oratory of Santa Maria Maddalena in Belvedere. It served as a hospice and hermitage for travelers crossing Montalbano.
The convent soon became a place of agricultural production, with sharecropping as a key source of income.
It has been abandoned since the 1970s, unsafe and plundered of everything possible.
