This sculpture is the Monument to the miners of Ribolla, a memorial dedicated to the victims of the mining tragedy that occurred on May 4, 1954, in Ribolla, in the municipality of Roccastrada.
The work commemorates the 43 miners who lost their lives due to a firedamp explosion inside the coal mine. The sculpture, which represents tilted mine carts, is now located within the Rocca di Montemassi estate, in Maremma, an area historically linked to mining activities.
It honors the memory of the workers and the mining history of the territory.
