The community has set up several museums in the castle: For a small admission price, depending on the Corona situation, you can visit the Archaeological Museum, the bakery museum, a bricklayer and carpentry museum, the crime museum and finally the costume museum on Sundays. A guided tour is also possible after prior registration.

The beginnings of a former castle cannot be documented. Due to the nature of the firing chambers in the defense towers, their emergence can be classified in the last third of the 14th century. During this period, the Lords of Grumbach are first mentioned in 1371 as "sat at Rimpar". The Grumbach family died out in Rimpar in 1603. The purchase of the complex, which was converted into a three-winged palace complex in the 15th / 16th centuries, was For the Hochstift Würzburg very welcome. After the secularization, the Hochstift Würzburg and with it the castle came to the Elector's Tower of Bavaria, then to the Grand Duchy of Tuscany and then to the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1815. Forest officials lived here until 1973 and held their office the market town of Rimpar bought the building and set up the offices of the municipal administration on the 2nd floor.
