Ahausen Castle lies in the Bigge Valley north of the Ahausen Reservoir and, together with its outbuildings, forms the hamlet of Ahausen, a district of the municipality of Finnentrop. The castle was built on the foundations of a moated castle.
In 1958, the Ahausen estate passed by inheritance to Count Ferdinand von Spee. The castle remains in the possession of the von Spee family to this day.
