The SS Ayrfield is a steel steam collier built in 1911 and later decommissioned and abandoned in Homebush Bay. Over time, mangrove trees took root within its rusting hull, transforming it into the striking “Floating Forest” that has become an iconic Sydney Olympic Park landmark. The shipwreck now sits within a protected conservation area and is a popular subject for photography along the waterfront trails.
