Jirón de la Unión traces its origins back to Lima's main colonial thoroughfare, which as early as the 16th century connected trade, administration, and social life.
For centuries, it was the most important promenade and shopping street for the city's elite.
Today, Jirón is a bustling pedestrian zone where historic buildings and modern mass retail overlap.
A stroll through it is worthwhile to experience firsthand the social and urban transformation of the city center.
