The monumental façade, similar to a triumphal arch, features a semicircular loggia supported by columns, an entablature with architrave, frieze, and crown, and the main upper molding decorated with dentil ornamentation.
Built in the central square, next to the Estense Fortress, it houses the remains of 86 soldiers, 19 of whom were members of the San Feliciano family and 67 from 40 Italian provinces. It is considered one of the largest Italian mausoleums of the First World War built outside of cemeteries and religious areas.[1]

The Monument to the Fallen of San Felice sul Panaro (Modena) is one of the most important and extensive First World War mausoleums in Italy located outside of cemetery or religious areas. The work stands in the central square (piazza Matteotti), right next to the historic Rocca Estense.
