The Ems is a 371 km long river to the North Sea in northwestern Germany.
After the Weser, it is the second longest river that has its source in Germany and flows into the sea.
The Ems rises in the Senne near Schloss Holte-Stukenbrock in the state of Westphalia, flows first through the Westphalian Bay in a northwesterly direction roughly parallel to the Teutoburg Forest and from the state border with Lower Saxony, between Rheine and Salzbergen, then in a northerly direction to the North Sea.
From the Dollart, the Ems forms the partly disputed border with the Dutch province of Groningen.
It flows into the North Sea about 27 kilometers northwest of Emden between Pilsum and Eemshaven.(Source: Wikipedia)
