The history of the place Kummerow goes back to the year 1222, when it was first mentioned in a document. The baroque Kummerow Castle was completed a few centuries later in 1730 and expanded roughly another century later to include the adjoining landscape park, which extends to the lake. After it went into private ownership at the end of the 20th century and slowly but surely fell into disrepair, it is now used as an exhibition center. Among other things, the abstract works of the German artist Eberhard Göschel and a photographic exhibition can be seen.
