On January 25, 2022, the Manassa Rose M was en route from İskenderun to Misrata, carrying building materials and equipment, when it encountered a storm. Off Kissamos, the vessel attempted to anchor but was driven onto a sandbank a few hundred meters offshore by the heavy seas and broke in two. The ten-man crew abandoned the stricken vessel, with eight using one of the lifeboats and two jumping overboard. All crew members were rescued by the Greek Coast Guard and local volunteers. Parts of the deck cargo, including two truck trailers carrying cement, washed ashore.

A few days after the accident, the ship's tanks were pumped out and lubricants removed. The remaining cargo was salvaged by a floating crane in early February, and the coastal beach was cleared of debris from the ship's cargo.
