A predecessor structure was already mentioned in 1096. In 1949, the castle was taken over by the Christian Youth Village of Germany (CJD) to serve adolescents as a youth, educational and social workshop. The castle is now unused and an investor is being sought. Except for the actual courtyard, the palace complex is accessible and interesting.
