The rare monkeys on the Sontra Peninsula (Son Tra) are called red-shanked doucs (Pygathrix nemaeus). These critically endangered, colorful primates, often called the "king of primates," find one of their last refuges there and are known for their striking, colorful fur. They are considered one of the most beautiful and rarest monkey species in the world.
Unfortunately, they seem to be very shy; I didn't encounter any on Son Tra.
