Most of the road is decent, I tried to take the shortcut around the kallakolathur lake. This is kind of adventurous, as the stretch is gravelish, too narrow and lots of thorn bushes. Helmet, glasses advisable. I could cross the stretch on my road bike😉. As you get near kallakolathur u can get distant view of the mailam temple as in the picture.
