Xigia Sulfur Beach (also spelled Xygia) is located on the northeast coast of the island.
The beach is famous as a natural sulfur bath. Due to sulfur springs flowing directly into the bay from neighboring sea caves, the water gets a characteristic milky-turquoise color. A distinct smell of sulfur (similar to rotten eggs) is in the air.
The sulfur- and mineral-rich water is attributed therapeutic properties that can help with skin problems, muscle and joint pain, and arthritis.
